Concurrent CRRT and plasmapheresis
This is a video that demonstrates the technique of concurrent continuous renal replacement therapy and therapeutic plasma exchange (CCRRT+TPE). CCRRT+TPE may be useful in the treatment of children with fulminant hepatic failure, hemolytic uremic syndrome or patients with immune-mediated acute renal failure. The video was filmed by Kim Yaeger,BSN in the Center for Advanced Pediatric Education (CAPE) at Stanford University.
CRANIOPHARIGEOMA-transsphenoidal removal
Craniopharingeoma is a suprasellar tumor that grows principally from the pituitary stalk, upwards it compresses the optic chiasm, grows posteriorly into the third ventricle.
Diuretic action in the kidney Animation
The narrated movie takes the viewer from the human silhouette down subsequent levels of detail finally ending on the transporter proteins which are the direct targets of most diuretic drugs. The movie is intended to show the flow processes within the kidney including such aspects as filtration, reabsorption, and excretion in the nephron. It also shows the molecular sequence of ion transport, how the diuretics inhibit the reabsorption of sodium, and the subsequent effects on other ions
Ameloblastoma Removal
This video shows the resection of a large mandibular ameloblastoma. The extirpation of the tumor required a segmental mandibulectomy, which transected the inferior alveolar nerve. Both the nerve & mandible were reconstructed with a great auricular nerve & a titanium plate respectively.
Some Pathological Gaits
Hemiplegic gait
Spastic gait
trendelenburg gait
Steppage Gait
Loss of dorsiflexion. Suspected deep peroneal nerve damage.
High steppage gait
Some Types Of Nystagmus
Upbeat Nystagmus
Downbeat Nystagmus
The presence of downbeat nystagmus suggests a lesion in the cervicomedullary junction. Causes include Arnold-Chiari's syndrome, spinocerebellar degeneration, stroke and multiple sclerosis.
See Saw Nystagmus
This patient has see-saw nystagmus characterised by supraduction and intortion of one eye, and infraduction and excyclotortion of the other.
